REMINDER ABOUT POINTS AND END OF SEASON AWARDS
Trophies are awarded to all age groups champions and runners-up for both boys and girls. In the event that there are only a few athletes in an age group then minimum point criteria must be achieved to win a champion trophy otherwise an achievement trophy will be awarded.

A Points System within the Results HQ program is used to award points;
• 1 point for attendance on the day
• 1 point of participating in each event
• 5 points of a Personal Best
• If an athlete equals or breaks a record, they are awarded 20 points
• Points for placings in an event are calculated based on how close the result is to the Centre record.
The points system is based according to the quality of the performance, rather than just on the placing gained. Therefore, in a race a competitor who is only a fraction behind another will also earn good points even if they did finish sixth.
In field events athletes have the opportunity can gain more points as there can sometimes be meters between each of the competitors attempts.

Weekly attendance and event participation can be crucial for points towards the end of season awards.

This modified version of the Pentathlon Points System has been tried and used by many Centres since the 1977/78.

Personal Best champion and runner-up for each boy and girl in every age group, Pb’s are counted up for all normal competition days through Peel’s season. Please note this does not include Coastal Cup, Centre Championships as it’s has its own award system with medals, State events and invitationals to other Centres.

We have a Junior and Senior “Athlete of the Year” Trophy and Shield is awarded to the highest point scoring male and female athletes.
In an effort to recognize athletes that are close to the top we award 2nd 3rd and 4th runner-up junior and senior athletes of the year with certificates.

The President’s trophy is awarded to an athlete who is seen to be a good role model in the Centre, showing respect, sportsmanship, courage, effort and helpfulness.

The Bob Gray Encouragement Award is awarded to a boy and girl athlete who demonstrates a desire to compete and improve in their age group in all events. This is not an award measured by winning or by the setting of Best Performances. This is an award presented to athletes who TRY to the best of their ability at all times.

Coach’s Award, The award is selected by our coach and is an athlete/s who regularly attends training, shows respect, listens and tries their hardest to do what the coach shows them. They practice what they are shown and are happy to help their friends with tips and tricks they have learnt.
